The aim of this course is to bring major scales to life in a beautiful, useful, joyful and fun way for you.

The fundamental skills you can develop to make everything else you do on the saxophone easier, more fun, less stressful, and more enjoyable are learning your 12 major scales and the chord tones of the 12 major scales really, really well. If you follow the detailed instructions in this course, it will revolutionise your ability on the sax for the better.

Each video takes you through all of the notes of the 12 scales and shows you how to practise them both with and without the backing tracks included as part of the course. I have also provided a PDF summary sheet that covers everything that we do in each video so that you can view or print it out and use it for reference.

You’ll also be taken through the chord tones of each scale, teaching you what the notes are and why they are important. You’ll learn how to do some gentle improvisation just using the chord tones, which, by the way, already sounds really great. Then, in each video, I teach you a really simple yet beautiful phrase using the notes of the scale and the chord tones and show you how to play it with a backing track. You’ll learn how I arrived at these phrases so that you can work them out in any key.

Then, finally, we do a great exercise where we play the scale from the lowest note on the instrument up to the highest note available, ensuring that you are comfortable with the entire range of your beautiful instrument.
